Understanding Alzheimer's

Alzheimer's disease affects progressively more people - which almost always affects the lives of their loved ones. The lecturer will talk about how to recognize the symptoms of the disease and how to support people who have been diagnosed. She will also discuss how to help caregivers who feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities.

Dr. Magdalena Leszko

Psychologist, Gerontologist

Dr. Magdalena Leszko has devoted most of her professional career to working for seniors and their caregivers. As an awardee of the Polish-American Fulbright Commission scholarship, she completed her doctoral studies at the University of Kansas and an internship at Northwestern University, where she conducted research on early detection of Alzheimer's disease and factors influencing the development of dementia. She is the author of numerous scientific and popular science publications, especially in the area of ​​functioning of caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease. She is currently a lecturer at Moravian University (USA). He runs a support group for caregivers of people with neurodegenerative diseases, as well as an individual psychological counseling practice.
