The Spirit of Capitalism in Poland

The lecture will analyze the enormous economic and political changes after Poland's transition from a former centrally planned communist economy to a free market economic system. The background to the changes discussed will be one of the most surprising and astonishing economic transformations in history in China, with clearly increasing economic prosperity, but also high and growing political costs.

Dr. Marek M. Michalski

Lecturer, Bush School of Business

Dr. Michalski is a graduate of the University of Economics in Krakow and the University of Stockholm. He completed postgraduate studies in economics at the Catholic University of America and an MBA at Southeastern University. He received a PhD in entrepreneurship and international relations from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Dr. Michalski has taught courses in economic development, business, entrepreneurship, management, and marketing at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and in the Executive MBA program at the Warsaw University of Technology. Dr. Michalski has worked as an infrastructure consultant at the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development based in London, and on projects under the UN Development Program. He is currently a lecturer at the Bush Business School in Washington, D.C., and at the Maryland University College.
